Sales of Salah Shirt Changed the Scene .. Trabzonspor Warns Fans of Fraud

Al-Taj News – Trabzonspor Club issued an official statement to its fans warning them about fraudulent activities involving team shirts and some of its merchandise.

In its statement, the Turkish club revealed that it had received reports regarding the sale of the club’s magazines and signed shirts by phone, using the club’s name, while asking fans to pay money for those products. After investigating, the club explained that some fans had been contacted through a specific phone number, using what it described as call center information or a call center capacity, in an attempt to deceive them and seize their money under the guise of selling magazines and signed shirts.

The Turkish club was keen to emphasize to its fans that licensed products are sold only through its official channels and authorized distributors, while explaining that the Trabzonspor magazine is available through the Corporate Projects Call Center, in addition to stores authorized by the club and approved points of sale across Turkey.

The timing of the statement draws attention to a phenomenon that accompanied Mohamed Salah’s arrival at the club, namely the major surge in demand for Trabzonspor products, foremost among them the shirt bearing the Egyptian star’s name.

According to the Turkish magazine “61saat”, which covers news about Trabzon, the city’s club sold around 82,000 shirts in just two weeks since Mohamed Salah joined its ranks, compared with around 200,000 shirts sold by the club throughout the entire previous season.

That means Trabzonspor came close, in just 14 days, to selling the equivalent of more than 40% of the total shirt sales it achieved during an entire previous season.
